One of the most impressive defenders in the Barclays Premiership who spent the second half of the 2005/06 seson on loan at Fulham. Moved from Southampton to Chelsea in July 2003 and his consistent displays secured him places in the England squad for the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004. Pace, crossing and control are the left-back's major assets. A key player at both ends of the pitch and was named in the Team of the Season in 2003/04.
