Full-back joined City from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in January 2007 after a week's trial. It was a return to the Barclays Premiership for the defender, who started his career with Everton alongside City skipper Richard Dunne after graduating from the club's youth academy, making his debut in the 1996/97 season. He earned a solitary England cap in February 2001 against Spain, and a £6.5million move to Rangers followed in 2001. An injury-hit spell in Glasgow yielded an SPL winner's medal in the 2004/05 season before he moved to PSV in the summer of 2005.
