The Ghana-born Holland international arrived at the Riverside in August 2002 for £5million from Aston Villa and was appointed captain by new manager Gareth Southgate in July 2006. He spent three years at Villa Park after signing from midlands rivals Coventry in 1999. Began in a wide role but settled into central midfield where he is most effective. Loves the challenge and pace of the English game. Strong, consistent and relishes the 50-50 tackles.
