Appointed to the Wales International team temporarily to replace Bobby Gould but impressed enough to earn himself a long-term contract. Transferring to Blackburn Rovers in 2004 he first kept the club from relegation then took them onto an FA cup semi-final. In 06/07 the club finished 10th as well as again reaching the FA semi-final and competing in Europe. He joined City at the start of 2008.
